Gothenburg Opera’s ‘Notorious’ has been drawing very positive reviews from critics across Europe. Below is a selection:

Guy Dammann for the Financial Times (£): ‘Superbly performed, Notorious is a new opera of significant power.’

Katharina Hogrefe for Bachtrack: ‘I think the concept of exciting, modern opera proved to be utterly successful.’

Vincent Guillemin for Altamusica (French): ‘the libretto has been superbly adapted to an operatic style thanks to the joint work of Hans Gefors and dramaturge Kerstin Perski’

Manuel Brug for Die Welt (German): ‘One only wishes there were more such well-made operas in the world of German opera, operas which draw in regular audiences through hard work and with star attraction, quite unlike the many very worthy novelties that see no more than one performance.’

Rolf Fath for Opera Lounge (German): ‘Warner and his technician David Fielding create a studio atmosphere through simple methods, blending original photos and videos together, zooming in on the secret keys and the self-emptying bottles of wine and so on. Well-made theatre!

Agustín Blanco Bazán for Mundo Clasico (Spanish): ‘Patrik Ringborg rose to the superlative level of this great collaboration between composer, librettist, and director, leading the excellent house orchestra and chorus with the intensity, inspiration, and authority necessary to surmount the many challenging and precise changes of tempo and technical subtleties this score requires.’
